My Chicago favorites

I think at this point I’ve lived in… seven cities in my adult life (I guess that includes college). But still, a lot! And Chicago remains my absolute favorite. I went to school in Boston, then Virginia, and moved to DC after I graduated. Soon moved to NYC which I loved, but the hustle beat me to a pulp and I needed to be close to family. I met my (now) fiance at the end of my time in New York and then moved to Chicago which is where I grew up. He took a job that required us to move, so we moved west to San Francisco and after 10 quick months we moved right back. All of that is to say, I love Chicago and love sharing my favorites with you all!

Restaurants: Avec, Cabra, Daisies, Galit, Gemini Bistro, Lula Cafe, Mott Street, Rose Mary, Soule, Sushi Suite 202, Tzuco, Vajra, Yuzu Sushi (we order from here every Sunday, no joke)

Sandwiches: All Too Well, Tempesta Market (the Beet Street is my favorite)

Baked goods: Ingrained, Sweet Mandy B’s, West Town Bakery

Beauty: The Fitz (where I get facials, botox, and anything in-between) note: I see Suzie Carroll or Ashley Collins for botox and Emily Clark for facials, but I’m sure the other providers are also great, Essential Nail Spa (all non-toxic and such lovely people), Kelly McCarthy Hair (for color), Alex Brown Hair (for cut)

Shopping: You can’t beat Michigan Avenue. I love to walk along there and then wander into Gold Coast if I’m serious about shopping. Otherwise, Wicker Park has some great stores to jump into as does Lincoln Park.

Activities: Second City (improv). By far my favorite. If you haven’t been, you must! The Architectural Boat Tour is also fantastic, and I love the Art Institute. Chicago Magic Lounge is a great date night, and Laugh Factory is amazing stand-up comedy. Walking along the lakefront — it’s the BEST! I’m sure there are a million others that I’m missing…
